Mt Isthmus
Mt Isthmus Lodge is a newly completed, luxury lodge on the shores of Lake Hawea. The client provided the architect with Glasgow River Museum as inspiration for the design concept. Located in a mountainous region, the stunning curved roofline replicates topographical contours, while the angled rooflines emulate the surrounding peaks.
This incredible building features copper roofing throughout, with the roofline flowing into the cladding, becoming the exterior walls. All fascias and barges were copper to match and the garage door. Copper is a highly durable material and will weather beautifully in the harsh climatic conditions.
The shape of the roof presented some challenges due to the layout and design. Every panel is custom made and individual in shape and size, so plenty of thought and planning went into aligning the seams perfectly. We assisted with buildability and design solutions to ensure functionality and to work within the clients budget. It took around 6 months to manufacture and install the roof and cladding for this project.
